SU005 T-26E Turrets

In an attempt to up-armour the T-26, the Factory No. 174 designed appliqué armour that could be retro-fitted to existing single turreted T-26 tanks during the Winter War. Attached to the front and side of the turret using a combination of blunt bolts and welding techniques, the extra 30mm to 40mm of armour could successfully resist 45mm anti-tank projectiles at ranges of 400m to 500m. These up-armoured versions of the T-26 were designated T-26E (E meaning ekanirovki or screened).
